Yani Leppanen, 37, of Huntington Beach was convicted in October by an Inglewood Superior Court jury of one count of communicating with a minor for the purposes of engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior. Leppanen used the name “musicmindyl” in an AOL chat room, where he had an online discussion full of sexual topics and suggestions with someone who said she was a 13-year-old girl but was actually a police detective.
Leppanen, who remains free on bail, will surrender at jail on March 26. Leppanen said he was 28 years old during four chats with the detective in April and May 2007.
